In this session, we will share the benefit and know-how to conduct load test in production environment. Internet services are sometimes hit by sudden big traffic. For example, in smartphone game industry, such case may be observed at the beginning of event, and news portal sites may observe it right after disaster or big social event. Super Sale is what brings such huge spike of traffic to Rakuten Ichiba. In order to ensure the system operation even in such sudden spike, basket service of Rakuten Ichiba conducts large scale load test before every Super Sale in production environment (PROD). Based on our experience, we are sure about the usefulness of conducting load tests in PROD. And, we believe there is a potential demand for conduction of load test in PROD for other services. Thus, in this session, we are going to share the benefit and know-how to conduct load test in production environment.
